About:

Chris McGrady is an artist, teacher & intellectual explorer of this world. She believes that all humans were designed with the innate ability to create, just as they were created themselves.

Chris’ artistic endeavors began with the quintessential etchings and paintings of a newly formed human babe. The first passion projects she can recall include meticulous drawings of home interiors from her favorite cartoons, illustrated comics with intent to build a world, taking photos of everything and a good old fashioned mod podge/magazine collage on her Virgin mobile flip phone. Chris followed her creative spirit all the way through high school, opting for classes like Clothing Management, Yearbook and the experiences of both dancing in front of and choregraphing dances for her fellow students. In 2008, she was touring the Southern Nazarene University campus with a group of folks in her chosen major when she suddenly witnessed another group of folks who had a serious frequency of creativity—they were the art & design students. Four years later, she graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design.

Artist Statement:

I have traversed many art styles looking for one niche to call my home, but the truth is I’m a dabbler. It was in the dabbling where I learned The Art of Coming Together. Aptly named, my current body of work tells the story of how I came to see myself as a true creator through my playfulness as an adult. Consisting of examples for my students, doodles with my daughter & therapeutic ventures of curiosity, this collection is something of which I am extremely proud. I found that chasing perfection ends up in disappointment every time, whereas uninhibited frolic results in wonderous and sometimes groundbreaking creations.
